The Definition of Elvis Presley: A Tribute to the King of Rock-and-Roll

Updated: Feb 5, 2019

#Elvis Presley: the suave crooner and guitar-strumming Adonis with black velvet hair and had young women swoon at the mere thought of him. The attention on Elvis was inevitable, especially when he gyrated his hips to the song “Hound Dog” or softly purred a string of ominous lyrics in “Heartbreak Hotel.” Altogether, these instances pinpointed his impact in the entertainment industry as an artist who never quits fascinating the crowd. He played rock, pop, gospel, country, and the blues, crossing various genres to showcase his vocal versatility as well as challenge white American society’s rigid social and moral values. Instead of reverting back to his shy youth, Presley marched on like the valiant Army soldier he is and lets music speak for itself without a filter.

Happy belated birthday to the #King. May he continue to rock our world.

To honour him, attached to this blog post is a video clip of myself playing a #piano cover of Presley’s heartfelt ballad “Can’t Help Falling in Love” using the Legato Strings setting on the Yamaha PSR-E263 digital keyboard. I am deliberately slowing down the original tempo of this song to surely haunt the listener’s memory.
